The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled its National Executive Elections for Saturday, October 3, 2026, as the party begins preparations for its next national leadership contest.
The party has announced that nominations will open on August 17 and close on August 22, 2026, with aspirants expected to follow the electoral timetable and guidelines issued by the National Elections Committee.
Chairman of the NPP National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, urged prospective candidates and other stakeholders to take note of the deadlines and conduct their campaigns peacefully.
“The committee intends to adhere to the timetable so that the party can proceed towards the National Delegates Conference in an orderly and predictable manner,” he said.
Nomination Fees
The party has set the following nomination fees for the various positions:
- National Chairman: GH¢50,000
- Vice Chairman: GH¢30,000
- General Secretary: GH¢25,000
- All other national positions: GH¢10,000
- Special Wings – Nasara, Women and Youth: GH¢8,000
The NPP has urged all aspirants and their supporters to familiarise themselves with the rules governing the elections and maintain decorum throughout the campaign.
NPP Election Timetable
The party has released the following timetable for the electoral process:

The elections will be conducted by a National Elections Committee chaired by Frederick Opare-Ansah, with Abena Osei Asare as Vice Chair. Other members include Oboshie Sai Coffie, Frank Davies, Anthony Karbo, Salam Ama Mpianimaa Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman and Evans Nimako, who will serve as secretary.
Vetting and Appeals Process
The NPP has also established a Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Candidates who are dissatisfied with decisions of the National Vetting Committee may submit written petitions to the National Appeals Committee.
The Appeals Committee, chaired by Joe Ghartey, is required to determine petitions within 48 hours.
Where an aspirant remains dissatisfied with the Appeals Committee’s decision, a further appeal may be lodged with the National Executive Committee, whose decision will be final and binding.
The elections will form part of the NPP’s preparations for its next National Delegates Conference and the party’s broader reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
