The incumbent NPP Regional Chairman for the Upper West Region, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, has been re-elected to lead the party in the region after securing 173 votes in the party’s regional executive elections.
He defeated his sole challenger, Alhassan Kanton Braimah Nala, who obtained 86 votes out of the 259 valid ballots cast.
The elections, held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, brought together about 260 delegates to elect regional executives responsible for steering the party’s affairs in the Upper West Region.
Regional executive results
Majeed Limann was elected First Vice Chairman with 193 votes, defeating former Wa Central Constituency Chairman Ali Kamara Karim Tankari, who polled 35 votes, and Aaaoglenang Thaddeus Arkum, who secured 31 votes.
For Second Vice Chairman, Philip Yaw Braimah won with 166 votes against Wongtina Bamatu, who obtained 91 votes.
In the Regional Youth Organiser contest, Dodoo Yussif Sadat emerged winner with 158 votes. Haki Insah Kele received 71 votes, Yahaya Suleman 17 and Amidu Reedwan 13.
Alhassan Suleman was elected Regional Treasurer with 160 votes, defeating James Kpir-Faatey Saatiri, who secured 99 votes.
The incumbent Regional Secretary, Tanko Daniel Dawda, retained his position with 186 votes. Agape Kanyiri Danwah obtained 64 votes, while Dauda Kaleo Salia polled nine.
Alhassan Yissif won the Deputy Secretary position with 200 votes against Benin Sulemana’s 59.
The incumbent Ahmed Nana Sadat also retained the position of Regional Communications Officer with 185 votes, defeating former office holder Bukari Ali, who received 74 votes.
Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Ali retained the Regional Nasara Organiser position with 179 votes, defeating Hudu Abdul Jalilu, who polled 80.
The Regional Organiser position went to Mohammed Saana Hamidu, a former Youth Organiser, who secured 138 votes. Mustapha Ibrahim Dimah received 75 votes, Seidu Issahaku Sulemana 23, and Amadu Adama 22.
In the Regional Women Organiser contest, Minata Mumuni emerged victorious with 139 votes, defeating incumbent Nancy Ayuo Dery, who obtained 116 votes.
The newly elected executives are expected to lead the NPP’s reorganisation efforts in the Upper West Region, strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and prepare for future political engagements.
The decisive victory of Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, popularly known as “Chairman White,” gives him a strong mandate to continue leading the party at the regional level.
