Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) across the country have elected new regional executives, including the newly elected NPP regional chairmen, following the party’s regional elections held on Saturday, August 15, 2026
The elections were keenly contested in several regions, with the position of Regional Chairman emerging as one of the most closely watched positions.
Based on provisional results declared by Electoral Commission officials who supervised the elections, the following candidates have been elected Regional Chairmen:
NPP Regional Chairmen-elect
- Western Region – Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa
- Savannah Region – Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana
- Bono Region – Kwame Baffoe Abronye (Abronye DC)
- Greater Accra Region – Bernard Okoe-Boye
- Ashanti Region – Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA)
- Eastern Region – Jeff Konadu Addo
- Central Region – Joseph Kobinah Esibu
- Western North Region – Election scheduled for August 16, 2026
- Ahafo Region – Robert Sarfo Mensah
- Northern Region – Mohammed Baatima Adam (Samba)
- North East Region – Alhaji Mohammed Fuseini
- Upper East Region – Elvis Awonekai (Figo)
- Upper West Region – Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman
- Volta Region – Makafui Kofi Woanya
- Oti Region – Dr Frank Yirenkyi
- Bono East Region – Ibrahim Bukari Baba
The results represent the provisional outcome of the party’s regional elections, with the Western North Region yet to hold its election.
The newly elected NPP regional chairmen are expected to lead the party’s regional structures as the party reorganises its grassroots base and prepares for its next phase of political activity.
Why it matters
This is the first major step in the NPP’s internal rebuilding process after losing power in 2024. It matters because:

It determines who leads grassroots organizing in each region heading into 2028.
