Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8 in New Foldable Lineup

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its latest Galaxy Z series, introducing the new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 as the company expands its foldable smartphone range with different designs and experiences for users.

The new lineup was unveiled in Accra, Ghana, on July 22, 2026, and builds on seven generations of Samsung’s foldable technology and customer feedback.

Samsung says the new devices are designed to provide more choice, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 focused on immersive everyday use, the Fold8 Ultra targeting productivity and content creation, and the Galaxy Z Flip8 offering a compact design aimed at quick interactions and personal expression.

Galaxy Z Fold8 brings a new foldable experience

The Galaxy Z Fold8 has been designed for users who want to move easily between quick interactions and more immersive activities such as reading, watching videos and gaming.

Samsung says the device uses display ratios designed around how people consume content throughout the day, allowing the screen to adapt to different activities.

At 201g, the Fold8 is Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold device yet.

Despite its lighter design, the smartphone features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and a larger 4,800mAh battery, combining performance with longer-lasting power.

Fold8 display and camera designed for everyday use

Samsung has also focused on improving the display technology across its latest Galaxy Z lineup, with engineering aimed at producing slimmer designs, increased durability and a more seamless viewing experience.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is also designed to support everyday photography and video creation, whether users are capturing landscapes, group photographs or spontaneous moments.

Samsung says the device makes it easier to capture, edit and share content.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra targets productivity and creators

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra brings Samsung’s Ultra branding and capabilities to its foldable range.

The device features an expansive 8-inch main display, providing a larger workspace for multitasking and productivity.

Samsung says the Fold8 Ultra is also its slimmest Z Fold design yet, measuring 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215g.

The combination of the larger display, advanced camera system and long-lasting battery is aimed at users who want to work, create content and complete demanding tasks while on the move.

200MP camera supports professional content creation

The Fold8 Ultra features a 200MP main camera, designed to capture detailed images with improved clarity.

Samsung has also added High Dynamic Range (HDR) capability to the 200MP mode to produce images that are intended to look more natural and realistic.

The company says the camera system, combined with its creative tools, gives content creators greater flexibility from capturing images through to editing and producing finished content on the same device.

Galaxy AI expands across the new Galaxy Z series

Artificial intelligence is a major component of Samsung’s latest foldable lineup.

Samsung says Galaxy AI has been optimised for each of the new form factors, with AI features designed to make information more useful and actions easier to complete.

The larger displays on the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra support multitasking, while the Galaxy Z Flip8’s AI-focused FlexWindow provides access to relevant information and shortcuts.

Samsung is also incorporating partner AI experiences, including Gemini Intelligence, giving users additional ways to complete tasks with fewer steps.

AI designed around privacy and user control

Samsung says its latest AI experiences are becoming more personal and proactive by understanding what matters to users and helping turn information into action.

The company has also emphasised privacy and transparency, saying users should understand how their information is being used and remain in control of AI-related choices.

Personal data protection and user control have therefore been incorporated into the new Galaxy Z series as part of Samsung’s approach to more personalised AI experiences.

Galaxy Z series offers new ways to switch to Samsung

Samsung is also making it easier for users to move from other platforms to Galaxy devices.

The updated Smart Switch allows iPhone users to scan a QR code on their existing devices and transfer data wirelessly without downloading additional applications.

The transfer system can also move additional information, including passwords and passkeys, call history, accessibility settings and eSIM data.

Samsung says the improved process is intended to reduce the time required to set up a new Galaxy device.

Quick Share adds iOS compatibility

The company has also introduced new compatibility between Quick Share and AirDrop, allowing files to be shared between Galaxy and iOS devices in both directions.

The move is designed to make it easier for users switching between the two ecosystems to transfer files.

Samsung Care+ expands protection for new foldables

Through Samsung Care+, Samsung Ghana is offering customers additional protection for their new Galaxy foldable devices.

The service provides coverage for accidental damage, extended warranty protection, repairs and expert support at home and abroad.

Customers who purchase a new Galaxy foldable will also receive one screen replacement within 12 months at no additional cost under Samsung Care+.

With One UI 9, Samsung has introduced a new warranty and care settings hub where users can enrol in and manage Samsung Care+, access warranty information, perform self-diagnostics, request repairs and receive remote support.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8 available for pre-order

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 are available for pre-order, with the new Galaxy Z lineup offered in different colour options.

The devices are available in Graphite and Cream, while Violet Shadow is exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Lavender is available for the Galaxy Z Fold8.

Samsung is also offering a six-month free trial of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of cloud storage, with the new Galaxy Z series.

The company says the offer gives users access to Google’s advanced AI models to support productivity and creativity on the foldable devices.

Samsung Electronics CEO, President and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division TM Roh said the company believes mobile devices will increasingly serve as personal gateways to AI experiences that understand and adapt to individual users.

“By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again advancing the premium mobile experience and opening the next era of intelligence to more people,” he said
