Nsoatreman Community Bank profit more than doubles in 2025

Nsoatreman Community Bank Plc’s profit before tax more than doubled in 2025 as stronger lending boosted earnings, while the bank expanded its balance sheet and deposits despite a sharp decline in interest rates.

Profit before tax rose 123.46% to GH¢7.45 million from GH¢3.33 million a year earlier. Total assets increased 34.59% to GH¢133.87 million from GH¢99.47 million.

Loans and advances almost doubled, rising 92.10% to GH¢61.95 million from GH¢32.25 million, indicating a significant shift toward lending during the year. Deposits also grew 32.82% to GH¢117.60 million from GH¢88.54 million.

The Board Chairman, Prof. Emmanuel Opoku Marfo, disclosed it during the bank’s 36th Annual General Meeting in Nsoatre in the Sunyani West Municipality of Bono Region.

The performance came as Ghana’s macroeconomic conditions improved and interest rates declined. Inflation fell to 5.4% in December 2025 from 23.8% a year earlier, while the Ghana Reference Rate declined to 15.9% from 29.31% over the same period.

The bank’s investment portfolio, however, fell 5.54% to GH¢47.45 million from GH¢50.24 million. The Board Chairman attributed the decline partly to a decision to redirect funds toward lending as returns on investments weakened amid falling interest rates.

“[It was] a deliberate decision to redirect funds into lending as returns from investments weakened amid falling interest rates,” Prof. Marfo said.

The board recommended a dividend equivalent to 10% of profit after tax for shareholders, subject to approval at the AGM.

The bank’s share capital rose 19.43% to GH¢2.83 million from GH¢2.37 million as it stepped up efforts to raise additional shareholder funds.

Prof. Marfo said the bank had submitted a capital restoration plan and capitalization pathway to the regulator and had opted to remain a standalone institution.

“To help meet the requirement, the Board is seeking shareholder approval to transfer GH¢1 million from retained earnings to stated capital,” he said.

The bank is seeking to meet a minimum stated-capital requirement of GH¢5 million by Dec. 31, 2026, under Bank of Ghana reforms for Community Banks. The requirement compares with the previous minimum of GH¢1 million.

As part of its expansion strategy, Nsoatreman Community Bank opened a new branch in Berekum. Prof. Marfo said the bank was making positive progress across key performance indicators.

He thanked shareholders, directors, management, and staff for their contribution to the bank’s performance.

Nsoatreman Community Bank is based in Nsoatre in the Sunyani West Municipality of Ghana’s Bono Region.
