The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that teachers who receive promotions are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale and do not need to submit additional documents to have their salaries adjusted.
The clarification follows concerns from newly promoted teachers who were reportedly being asked by some regional and district offices to submit application letters, promotion letters and other documents before their salaries could be upgraded.
In a press release issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES said its existing procedure for adjusting salaries after promotions remains unchanged.
According to the Service, teachers promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the corresponding salary scale to reflect their new positions.
GES therefore instructed affected teachers to disregard requests from regional or district offices asking them to submit documents specifically for salary adjustments.
The Service stated that the established process has not been changed and that additional documentation is not required for the salary upgrade following a promotion.
The GES has also urged teachers to remain calm while management engages the specific regional and district offices involved to address the issue.
The clarification is expected to provide relief to newly promoted teachers who may have been concerned that failure to submit the requested documents could delay their salary adjustments.
